Visiting Wolverhampton
Not, perhaps, known as a tourist destination, Wolverhampton still has a number of places that are certainly worth a visit. Located in the city centre, The Wolverhampton Art Gallery was opened in May 1884. The Gallery is home to an eclectic mix of styles from Old Masters to locally made steel jewellery. The gallery is free to visit and even hosts sensory play sessions for families with babies and toddlers.
For visitors looking to spend some time outdoors, West Park is only a short 10 minute walk from the City Centre. West Park is one of the few remaining examples of a Victorian Municipal park and along with landscaped gardens it also boasts tennis courts, a boating lake, bowling green and children’s playground. West Park plays host to the weekly Wolverhampton Park Run, a fun and friendly 5k event that takes place every Saturday morning, and is totally free to enter.
For wet and windy days the Just Ramps Indoor Skatepark may be worth a visit. This skate park has a range of basic and more advanced features, as well as plenty of places for parents to sit and watch the fun. The park even hosts under 5s sessions, and is known for its welcoming staff.
Just outside Wolverhampton is the National Trust property Wightwick Manor which was once home to the Mander family. The manor itself is an impressive Victorian half-timbered building, and is surrounded by gardens designed by Thomas Mawson. The Malthouse Gallery at Wightwick Manor is home to the De Morgan Foundation collection of painting and ceramics, and the historic Malthouse is also home to a fascinating second-hand bookstore. Outside there are kitchen gardens to explore, with seasonal produce available for sale, and the natural play areas are scattered throughout the surrounding woodland.
These fares are all for fixed price Minicabs between Heathrow Airport and Wolverhampton. The fares quoted are fully inclusive, there are no hidden extras and no credit card fees.
