Notting Hill Gate
As well as the tube station, Notting Hill Gate; often confused with Notting Hill proper, is home to a number of restaurants and antique and collectables shops. Take a walk up Kensington Park Road then onto Portobello Road, however, and you will come to the world famous Portobello market. There are five arcades and galleries at Portobello market, made up of a variety of antique shops and dealers; some of which are open throughout the week, while others are by appointment only.
Before you even reach the arcades and stores, however, you will need to negotiate a path through the busy street market on Portobello Road. There are hundreds of stalls, winding up the long road, which attract thousands of visitors to the popular Saturday market. You can expect to see antiquities that date back to the roman times, sitting along retro-gems from up to the 1960s.
While you are in the area, you may also want to take the famous Notting Hill tour; as inspired by the romantic movie of the same name, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Locations from the movie include the Coronet Cinema, close to the tube station; Rosmead Gardens, off the Landsdown Road; and, Bella & Max’s House, which you will find at no. 91 Landsdown Road. If you are not familiar with the area, some of the locations may be hard to find. Ask any of the market traders, however, and they will be glad to point you in the right direction.
Places to stay in the area include Linden Gardens Hotel, Notting Hill Gate Apartments and The Abbey Court – Notting Hill, as well as the Notting Hill Gate Hotel.
These fares are all for fixed price Minicabs between Notting Hill Gate and Heathrow Airport. The fares quoted are all fully inclusive, there are no hidden extras.
